I recently finished “Amazing Things Will Happen, A Real-World Guide on Achieving Success and Happiness“, by C.C. Chapman. This little book is a powerhouse, packing a punch in short, easy to read chapters. C.C. gives you a plethora of powerful, juicy, nuggets of truth, to sink in to your psyche.
I’ve read Content Rules, of which C.C. Chapman co-authored with Ann Handley, and Amazing Things Will Happen continues with that same no nonsense approach – a truthful, honest way to help you succeed in life. There is no brutal pounding of cheeky coined phrases or self help indoctrination where you need a guide for the guide. Pages are filled with advice and experiences straight from C.C.’s heart. He genuinely wants to help you achieve success.

The book spends a great deal of pages on lessons of paying it forward, to give more than you receive, to your community, your neighbors and those less fortunate. By giving back and putting in the hours, the hard work, sucking it up, that you can achieve success and happiness.
Within the book there are various exercises for you to do to take stock of the current you and for helping you to move down your path to become a “passion hit.” A word created by C.C., Passion Hit “is a person who has discovered his or her true passion in life and found a way to make it his or her livelihood.”
In chapter 3 C.C. talks about the importance of writing things down as it helps you focus better, and I think there is something to be said for putting words to paper. I’ve taken his heed on this. For about the last three years I’ve stopped writing things down consistently, and decided to write directly into the computer to save time and energy especially when it came to blog posts. But now, with writing it on paper, to me it puts fiction to fact – I will do this, this, this on paper is better than I should do this, this, this, that you say casually to a friend or colleague. In the last week I’ve started to write down my thoughts again, I’ve written, two blog posts, and two podcasts! I haven’t done that in the last two months!
This is a fantastic book. Well worth the $22.95 (hard book edition).
The book has given me the impetus to continue to move forward down my road less traveled, take strategic risks and ignore the “asshats” and “ankle biters” and don’t let the “seagulls” get you down.
Thank you for the review and I’m so glad that you appreciated the no-nonsense, straight from the heart writing style that I have. I know some people don’t appreciate it, but I am who I am.
Love that it has inspired you to keep pushing forward down the path you have chosen!
