There are a lot of free tools that can help your email marketing efforts – from design to AI-generated copywriting. Today I want to talk about 3 of my favorite free tools you can use to improve your email deliverability and help your emails arrive in your contact’s inbox.
What is Email Deliverability
The term “email deliverability” means whether or not an email message was successfully delivered to the recipient’s inbox. Several factors can impact deliverability, such as technical settings, the sender’s reputation, the quality of email content, spam filters, and recipient engagement.
With high deliverability, the chances of your email reaching the recipient, bypassing spam filters and being opened and read increase. This is essential for effective email marketing and communication.
My Recommended Tools
Squoosh
The first one, and probably my favorite, is Squoosh. Squoosh, created by Google, is a powerful tool that helps you reduce your image file size without reducing too much of your resolution. Sending emails with large image files can cause problems with email deliverability. Email servers may reject emails that are too big or have attachments that are too large. So this is where Squoosh comes in handy.
Deliverability Dashboard
The second tool I want to talk to you about is the Deliverability Dashboard by EmailSmart. After you’ve created a free account and synced it up with your email service provider, they do have quite a lot to choose from. I have connected to ActiveCampaign in this example, it will run through a series of queries to determine the health of your audience. In the end, it will provide you with an EmailSmart score. It will also provide you with details on contact engagement and recommendations, and there’s even a little gamification here about your current standing.
Mail Tester
The third free tool is Mail Tester, and as the website says, “It tests the spammyness of your emails.” Here’s how it works. Copy the auto-generated email address provided by the mail tester and add it to your test email. Again using ActiveCampaign in my example that we’re going to be sending out. We’ll paste our test email address from Mail Tester and click Send. Once you send the test email, go back over to Mail Tester, and click on Check Your Score. And immediately, you get results.
In our example, we received a 9.3 out of 10 score. You can go through each section of the report and show you how you can improve, change, and if you are blacklisted and any broken links.
Bonus Tip
A bonus tip and a big suggestion is to add ALT tags to the images that you do add to your emails. Adding ALT tags is beneficial for accessibility for people who are visually impaired and deliverability for people who are not displaying images in their emails by default in some cases.
