How to Get Started in Video Marketing for your Business

Videos are becoming very popular in search engines. These days when someone types a search like “how to make candles” chances are extremely good that they will go to see videos first and a regular web search second. Videos should be thought of as an extension of your website. Videos also have the ability to “go viral”, which is be sent all across the globe almost instantly.
How can your business start video marketing?
First you need to plan out what you want to market on your video.  This might be easier for some businesses than others.  You can offer tips or “how to” type of videos.
Once you have decided what you want to market or offer, you need a script or outline of what you are going to say and show in your video.
Next you’ll need screen capture with audio software.  I use and recommend Camtasia.  There are other options out there. Do your research and choose one that will best suit your needs without breaking the bank.  Whatever software you use it should include the ability to edit the video.
Once your video is complete and to your liking, you will need to publish it.  There are several video directories out there to which you can upload your video.  I recommend TubeMogul (www.tubemogul.com).  You sign up for free and you can upload your video to a half a dozen or so video directories including your twitter and facebook accounts. One caveat here – you will need to register for each video directory and input the username and password for each in TubeMogul but the good thing is that you can store them with TubeMogul so you don’t have to re-enter each time.
How do you make video marketing successful for your business?
When you submit videos to the video directories either through TubeMogul or individually, you have opportunities to enter a title for your video, keywords related to your video, your URL and keyword tags about the video and your business. These pieces of information are essential in getting visitors to your videos.
Here are a few specific tips:
The title to your video should contain keywords.  The keywords you put in the title are related to what people search for.  For example my video title is “Top 10 Web Design Tips for your Business”. My keywords are “web design tips.” When someone searches for “web design tips” my video should be among the list.
The description of your video should contain more keywords and a URL that you want visitors to go to for more information related to the video. The URL should be on the first line and should include the full URL (http://www.yourdomainhere.com). You want visitors going back to your website. Don’t be timid about your description. I suggest at least 1 paragraph describing the video.
The keyword tags should contain common phrases related to your content and will help visitors find your videos.  A effective way to check what keyword tags to use:

Go to Youtube or Google, type in a common keyword relevant to your video (ex. web design), and see what Google or YouTube auto-completes the phrase with. The top 5 or so are what visitors are most searching for. So use those phrases as your keyword tags.

Good luck with your video marketing!
