Periscope, owned by Twitter, is a mobile app for Apple and Android, that allows you to live stream. I’ve been testing out the app over the last few days, and I’m quite impressed by the raw connections that are made. Raw in the sense of no pretense – just someone just chatting with their followers, fans, customers, and clients. Most of what has been shared with the people I follow is valuable content in the form of Q&A, or a short burst of knowledge sharing.
A couple things I didn’t mention in my periscope review and demo:
- The hearts signify likes – there is limit
- You can auto save your live streams (that you create) and have it stored in your camera roll/photos which you can repurpose and post on YouTube, Facebook. etc.
Why Should I Use Periscope?
As a security services provider and/or security business owner you might be asking why the heck would I live stream. Here are a couple of things that Periscope, and what I call it’s cousin, Meerkat can do for your business:
