This week, Podia released the ability to send your Podia blog post directly in a broadcast email. So, let’s take a look.
If you’re unfamiliar with Podia, it’s an all-in-one platform that allows you to create a website, courses, products, community, and memberships, send emails, and, more recently, create blog posts.
Here’s how it works
Create a new broadcast message in Podia Email or start by publishing a new blog post. In my demo, I started from publishing a new blog post, then clicking on the Send to Email Subscribers button.
Select One of Two New Blog Post Email Templates
You can select the “Full post” template to pull in the full text of a blog post or a “Featured post” template to show an excerpt with a read more button.
In the dropdown menu, select the post to feature. The details from the blog post will automatically appear in the email. Users can customize the featured image, show or hide the author and publication date, change the button text, and adjust the colors and layout.
One Downside
The one downside is that you can’t edit your blog post here in the email.
You can only edit it in the blog post. So if you see a mistake, if you want to change things, you’d have to go back to the original blog post and then maybe even select it again as an option to pull it, pull in a fresh copy. I haven’t tested that out, but I assume that that’s what would happen.
Still, though, the fact that it brings the entire thing in is very cool.
Always Test the Process
So, how do we test this? We can click on the send test button. When you click on send test, it’ll send it to the email address associated with the Podia account holder. So keep that in mind. You also cannot view the email on a browser or mobile. So that’s also something to remember.
What Do You Think?
That’s a quick look at this new feature from Podia. Let me know what you think about the ability to automatically add blog posts into your emails with these two new templates.
