The post is along the same theme of what I spoke about in my post a couple of weeks ago – “Where is Technology Headed.”
So I got to pondering if technology is making us lazy. This is related to a couple of incidences that happened over the last couple of weeks – I posted a 50 minute podcast on Facebook and within 5 seconds I’m getting likes – so it’s obvious people aren’t liking the link for the content – but just for the sake of giving a like – are we that lazy that we can’t read or listen for longer than 5 seconds?
We have lost the time and energy (ie lazy) to read the written word. We scan the internet and give Facebook likes “just because” without ever reading the article, blog post, or listening to a podcast, or watching a video.
An example I make is that Amy Schmittauer got some grief this week simply because she had mentioned Klout in her video. Some folks just didn’t bother listen or watch the entire video so they missed the entire point. Some even went on to slam her for her blog’s title Savvy Sexy Social – thinking it was describing her – but it isn’t – and if they took the time to actually read her blog they would understand that.
The other point on laziness is Words with Friends Cheat apps – how lazy are we that we can’t even be bothered to take the time to think of a word to put into the game? If you’re still reading this, then post ‘hell ya’ in the comments. If I don’t see a lot of that phrase in the comments then it will kind of proof my point.
