Grow Your Email List and Boost Revenue FAST with Lead Magnets

A Lead Magnet is an essential foundation to grow your email list and boost your revenue.

So, in today’s video, we will be in Mailchimp building a landing page with a lead magnet component with some automation using customer journeys.

So let’s get started.

To get started on our landing page in Mailchimp, we’re going to start at the home page of your dashboard, and we’re going to click on that little button over there that says Create.

When we click on Create, we’re going to then click on the Landing Page link.

When we click on the landing page, we’re going to give a name for our landing page. That name, in this example, is “Be Your Best”.

We’re going to be selecting our test audience and click begin.

The next step is to create a template.

Now, you can go with a basic template where you’re promoting a product, or you want to go for lead generation.

I think, in this case, we’re going to be going for lead generation. So we’ll select the first template here where it says “Simple-New.”

With our lead generation template in place, we can go in and customize this template.

Adding the Tag to the Landing Page for Automation

The other part that we need to do is add a tag, which is our big piece to get the automation connected.

So click on edit audience, and we want to say anyone who signs up will be tagged automatically.

Click the plus button here, and type in your tag. In our example, we used “Gym Lead Magnet,” and that will be our tag that will be then connected to our automation.

So with that all done, we can then publish our landing page. That’s our landing pages live.

Create the Automation

Before we share it with the world, we have to create our automation using a Customer Journey.

So, let’s get that started now.

So from the left-hand side menu options, click on prebuilt journeys under Automation.

I didn’t see any that were specific to lead magnets, so I’m just going to use the “welcome new contacts” prebuilt journey.

Segment Filter

Now what you want to do here is you want to filter who can enter. We only want people who can enter this journey that have the tag “Gym Lead Magnet.”

So we want to click on Filter who can enter, Click on Add filter, click on Tags, Click on Gym Lead Magnet, and Contact is tagged.

Our next step is to send an email to our new lead.

Create the Automated Email

Rename the internal email name. Change the subject line and add Preview text.

Choose to build your email with either the Classic or New Builder. In our example, we chose the new builder.

Next, select a template to customize.

Once you add your email content and links to download the lead magnet, click the “Save and Return to Journey” button.

Review the Automation

Review the Customer Journey. Once you are satisfied with the processes/steps, click the Turn On button, which will push the Journey live.

Testing the Process

Now, with our landing page published and our Customer Journey turned on, we can now test out the process. In our example, it took a couple of minutes to receive our automated email with our lead magnet options.

Share the Landing Page

Once you have thoroughly tested the process, the final step is to share the landing page with the world.
